Arriving at PUJ and Flying Home from SDQ? Plan These Transfers
If you arrive at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) and fly home from Santo Domingo–Las Américas Airport (SDQ), request two clearly identified airport journeys: PUJ to your first accommodation, and your final accommodation to SDQ. Do not assume that selecting “round-trip” automatically communicates a different departure airport.
Start with the airport codes on your tickets
PUJ and SDQ are different airports. PUJ is Punta Cana International Airport; SDQ is Las Américas International Airport, serving Santo Domingo.
Write each airport code beside its relevant flight: the arrival flight landing at PUJ, and the departure flight leaving from SDQ.
“Santo Domingo” alone is not a precise airport destination. It can describe a city hotel or address, while your flight requires a journey to SDQ. Give the airport code and flight number rather than relying on the city name.
If you are still deciding which flights to buy, the airport-comparison guide addresses that earlier decision. Once tickets are booked, plan around the airports printed on the itinerary.
Write down the actual journeys
These journeys can be discussed together, but they have different endpoints. A booking described only as “Punta Cana airport return” leaves room for misunderstanding.
If everyone stays at the same resort throughout, name that resort on both journey lines. If accommodation changes, the departure pickup belongs at the final property.
| Journey | Route to request | Details to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival | PUJ → first accommodation | Arriving flight, local arrival date, complete accommodation name and meeting instructions |
| Departure | Final accommodation → SDQ | Actual pickup address, departing flight, local departure date and separately agreed collection time |
These are journey descriptions, not confirmed bookings or quotations. Use your actual accommodation for each leg.
Do you need to return to PUJ before travelling to SDQ?
A confirmed hotel-to-SDQ journey is a different route from an airport-to-airport transfer. You should not build an unnecessary return to PUJ into the plan simply because that is where the holiday started.
PUJ to SDQ means collection at Punta Cana Airport and delivery to Las Américas Airport. A Bávaro hotel to SDQ journey starts at the named hotel instead.
The starting points are different. The airport-to-airport route page describes the first journey; it should not be treated as confirmation of the second.
Ask for a quote using your actual hotel or villa address. Do not assume that an airport-to-airport price, driving estimate or pickup arrangement applies unchanged.
Your final hotel determines the departure plan
The accommodation occupied before your flight home determines the collection address. Keep that address separate from the airport destination.
If you stay in Punta Cana until departure
Request collection from the exact resort, villa or apartment where you will spend the final night. Include the complete property name and any entrance or access instructions.
Have the provider plan that address-to-SDQ journey specifically. A pickup time previously calculated for a flight from PUJ is not a suitable substitute.
If you finish the holiday in Santo Domingo
Your final airport journey starts at the Santo Domingo accommodation, not at the earlier Punta Cana resort.
Tell the provider about the change before accepting the itinerary. A city hotel and SDQ are separate destinations, even when both appear under “Santo Domingo” in a travel plan.
Any journey between your accommodations also needs its own arrangement. The two-hotel transfer guide explains how to account for that additional journey without assuming it is included in the airport booking.
Keep the flight time and pickup time separate
For departure, provide the airline, flight number, airport code, local date and scheduled departure time.
Then ask for the vehicle pickup date and local pickup time to be confirmed separately. The flight time is not the time to leave your hotel.
The collection plan needs to account for the actual road journey and the airport-arrival requirements for your flight. Do not reuse a PUJ departure buffer for an SDQ flight or calculate the appointment from the shortest driving estimate you find.
For departures near midnight, check the calendar date carefully. The local-time guide explains how to keep the flight itinerary and vehicle booking aligned.
If the airline changes the airport, flight or schedule, ask the provider to acknowledge the revised plan.
Request a quote for the actual pair of routes
Ask for a written quote that identifies both airport journeys and states what each amount covers.
A return price displayed for a PUJ-to-hotel route does not establish the total for a holiday ending at SDQ.
Similarly, do not assume that combined-booking discounts apply to every itinerary or addition. Review the round-trip transfer information, then have the terms for your particular routes confirmed.
If a booking form does not provide a separate departure-airport field, explain the itinerary in the notes or accompanying message. Selecting “round-trip” alone is not confirmation of an SDQ departure.

A message you can adapt
We arrive at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) on [local date], on [airline and flight number], and need transport to [complete first accommodation name].
We fly home from Las Américas Airport (SDQ), not PUJ, on [local date], on [airline and flight number], departing at [local time].
Our departure pickup address is [complete final accommodation name and address].
Passengers, luggage and special requirements for each journey: [details].
Please confirm availability, both routes, the departure pickup date and time, the complete prices, payment arrangements and applicable change terms.
Check the final confirmation before travelling
Read the two journeys independently. The first should end at the accommodation receiving you after landing. The second should start at your final accommodation and end at SDQ.
Check that everyone travelling has the latest confirmation, especially after a hotel change or airline revision.
If you would like PUJ Airport Transfer to review the itinerary, send the complete journey details to the transfer team. Ask for written confirmation of the actual routes rather than relying on a general return-transfer estimate.
