Wedding and large group transfers from PUJ

Answer first · updated September 2026 · written by the dispatch desk

A wedding party is not one big booking — it is a list of arrivals on different flights that all end at the same resort. We handle it as a group file: one contact person, one spreadsheet of flights, and a vehicle assigned to each arrival window. Pricing stays exactly the same as any private transfer, fixed per vehicle by zone, so four guests sharing a car to Bávaro pay $35 for the car, not per head. Vans take seven to fourteen passengers for $20 more on Standard and $40 more on VIP. Send the guest list to WhatsApp +1 849 377 5889 and dispatch returns one sheet with times, vehicles and a total.

Why groups are booked as a list, not as one vehicle

Wedding guests almost never land together. A group of 40 typically arrives on six or seven flights spread over two or three days, from different cities, with different delays. Booking one coach for the whole party sounds efficient and in practice means most of the group waits hours in arrivals for the last flight.

What works is a vehicle per arrival window. Guests landing within roughly the same 45 minutes share a car or a van; everyone else gets their own pickup. Nobody waits for strangers, every group has a driver holding a sign with the family name, and the cost is usually lower than a single coach because you only pay for the vehicles you actually need.

The person organising it sends one list. Dispatch does the grouping, because we can see which flight numbers realistically land close enough together to share.

What the organiser needs to send

One message with, for each party: guest name, flight number, arrival date and local arrival time, number of passengers, number of suitcases, and the resort. If the group is spread over several hotels, note which hotel for each party — Bávaro, Uvero Alto and Cap Cana are different zones and different prices.

Also tell us who the single point of contact is. During arrival days that person gets the driver updates, so guests do not have to co-ordinate anything themselves. Most couples nominate a family member or the wedding planner rather than the bride or groom.

Send it as a list, a spreadsheet or a photo of a spreadsheet — any of the three is fine. We return a confirmed sheet with the vehicle, the driver arrangement and the fixed price for each line, plus the total.

Vehicle sizes and how the split works

A standard car carries one to six passengers with normal luggage. A van carries seven to fourteen. Above that, we run multiple vans rather than a coach, because vans get closer to the resort entrance and unload faster than a full-size bus at a busy hotel porte-cochère.

Luggage decides more than headcount at a wedding. Dress bags, suit carriers, welcome-bag boxes and photography or DJ equipment take real space, so tell dispatch what is coming. A wedding dress travels flat on a seat, not under a pile of suitcases, and drivers expect that request.

The groups and luggage guide has the full vehicle table if you want the details before writing the list.

What it costs for a group

There is no group surcharge and no group discount gimmick: each vehicle is priced at the ordinary fixed zone rate, taxes and tolls included. One-way per vehicle for one to six passengers: Cap Cana $29, Punta Cana Village $29, Cabeza de Toro $32, Bávaro $35, Arena Gorda $42, Macao $49, Uvero Alto $60. VIP, a luxury SUV or executive van, runs $69 to $119 across those zones. Seven to fourteen passengers move to a van, adding $20 on Standard and $40 on VIP.

So a party of 40 landing at Bávaro across five van-sized windows is five vans at $55 each way, not forty individual fares. The prices page carries every zone, and the round-trip pages show the return side.

Night and early-morning arrivals cost the same as midday ones. There is no surcharge for a 2 a.m. landing, which matters when a group has one late flight in the mix.

Arrival day: how it actually runs

Every flight on the sheet is tracked. If a guest's flight is two hours late, that vehicle simply moves; the driver is there when the aircraft is, and the group contact is told. Delays inside the list do not disturb the other pickups.

Drivers wait in the PUJ arrivals meeting area with a sign showing the surname or the wedding name — most couples use the same wording on every sign, which makes guests find their driver faster. The finding-your-driver guide is worth forwarding to guests who have never landed at PUJ before.

Immigration and baggage at PUJ typically take 20 to 45 minutes, longer when several widebodies land together. That is included in the wait; nothing is charged for it.

The wedding day itself

If ceremony and reception are at different venues, or if guests are spread across two or three resorts, we run shuttles between them for the evening: vehicles assigned for the window, quoted per vehicle in advance, drivers staying on site rather than being called back each time.

The same applies to the rehearsal dinner, the welcome party, a beach club afternoon or a photo session at a second location. Tell dispatch the venue, the window and the number of guests, and it is priced like a day with a private driver.

We do not organise the wedding, the venue or the photographer. We move people, on time, at a price agreed before the day.

Departures after the wedding

Departures are the part groups underestimate. Everyone leaves within 48 hours, often on flights an hour apart, and the resort lobby becomes a queue. Book the returns with the arrivals, in the same list, so pickup times are already set before the celebration starts.

We work backwards from each flight: three hours before departure for a normal PUJ flight, more in the December to April peak and for the early morning European bank of departures. The departure buffers guide explains how the pickup time is calculated, and the hotel return guide covers how the lobby pickup works.

For a big block of same-morning departures we stagger the lobby times by 15 minutes so drivers and porters are not fighting for the same three metres of driveway.

How far ahead to book

For 20 to 40 guests, four to six weeks ahead is comfortable. For 60 or more, or for any wedding between December and April, three months is better — not because prices change, they do not, but because van availability on a specific Saturday is finite.

Nothing is lost by booking early. Times can be edited as guests confirm flights, and lines can be added or removed from the sheet up to the day before. Payment works the way it does on every transfer, explained in the payment guide.

Message the dispatch desk on WhatsApp at +1 849 377 5889 with the list, or use the quote form and say it is a wedding group. You get one sheet back with every pickup, every vehicle and one total.

Questions we get on this

Can you move 50 or 100 wedding guests from Punta Cana airport?
Yes. Large parties are run as multiple cars and vans matched to arrival windows rather than one coach, so guests are not left waiting in arrivals for other people's flights. Send the guest list with flight numbers and dispatch returns a sheet with vehicles, times and one total.
Is there a group discount?
Prices are the same fixed per-vehicle zone rates as any private transfer, taxes and tolls included, with no group surcharge. The saving comes from filling vehicles: a van of fourteen guests to Bávaro is $55 for the van, not fourteen individual fares.
What happens if some guests' flights are delayed?
Every flight on the list is tracked separately, so a delayed arrival moves only that vehicle. The driver meets the aircraft whenever it lands, at no extra cost, and your group contact is updated by WhatsApp.
Can you handle guests staying at different resorts?
Yes. Each line on the list has its own hotel and its own zone price, so a party split between Bávaro, Uvero Alto and Cap Cana is fine. Evening shuttles between resorts and venues can be added for the wedding day.
Do you carry the wedding dress and welcome bags?
Yes, and we plan for it. Tell dispatch about dress bags, suit carriers, boxes of welcome bags or DJ and photography equipment so the vehicle has room; a dress travels flat on a seat rather than in the luggage stack.
How far in advance should a wedding group book transfers?
Four to six weeks for 20 to 40 guests, and about three months for 60 or more or for any date between December and April. Prices do not change with lead time, but van availability on a specific date does, and the list can still be edited afterwards.
