What Higüey and Verón are, and why guests go there

Higüey is the provincial capital of La Altagracia — the working city behind the resort coast, about 45 km west of the airport. It is not a beach destination: people ride there for the Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, for family visits, for hospital and clinic appointments, for the notaries and government offices tourists suddenly need, and for long-stay apartments that cost a fraction of the strip. Verón sits between the airport and Higüey on the same highway and has grown into the residential town where most resort staff live; guests going there are usually visiting family, collecting a rental car, or staying in a local apartment. Both are covered by the one Standard rate, and both are ordinary road drives rather than gated-resort arrivals, so drop-off is at a street address you give us in writing.

How the Higüey pickup runs

1. 1Send the street address or landmark in Higüey or Verón, plus flight number, date and party size, on WhatsApp.
2. 2We reply with the written price and confirm the vehicle before you fly.
3. 3After immigration and baggage, walk out to arrivals and look for the sign with your name.
4. 4Direct drive on the Verón–Higüey highway to the address you gave us. No other passengers in the car.

Hotels, villas and drop-off points

Higüey has city hotels and apartments rather than beach resorts, and street numbering is inconsistent. Send a pin, the barrio name or a well-known landmark nearby and we confirm the exact drop-off in writing before the driver leaves.

We drop at the door of the address you send. For the Basílica, drivers stop on the plaza side rather than the pedestrian approach. For hospitals and clinics we use the main entrance, and for apartment buildings the driver calls ahead from the highway exit so someone can meet you at the door.

Bigger groups

7–14 passengers ride in a passenger van: +$20 on Standard, +$40 on VIP for this zone. Golf bags, strollers, wheelchairs and surf gear are fine — give us the luggage count and we send the right vehicle instead of guessing at the curb.
