Juan Dolio is a quiet beach town in San Pedro de Macorís province, roughly 155 km west of Punta Cana airport and much closer to Santo Domingo's Las Américas airport (SDQ). Most people who book this run are doing it for a reason the map does not show: a cheap flight landed at PUJ instead of SDQ, a cruise leaves from La Romana or Santo Domingo, a condo or long-stay apartment is in Juan Dolio or Guayacanes, or a group is combining a Punta Cana week with a few days on the south coast. It is a long but easy drive — toll highway almost the whole way, with the Autovía del Coral running past La Romana and San Pedro. Because it crosses two toll plazas and burns most of a morning, this rate is only worth it when the flight really is at PUJ; if you have a choice of airports, flying into SDQ is the cheaper arrival for Juan Dolio and we will tell you so.

Juan Dolio is mostly condo towers, small hotels and a few all-inclusives spread along one beach road, and several share similar names. Send the building name and tower or the exact street and we confirm the drop-off point in writing.

Hotels drop at the lobby. Condo and apartment buildings in Juan Dolio and Guayacanes normally have a gate with a guard who needs your name from the rental manager — send the reservation name and unit number when you book so the car is cleared instead of waiting on the road.
