Which Flight Number Should You Enter for Your Punta Cana Transfer?
The airline that sold your ticket is not always the airline flying you into Punta Cana. Giving the transfer desk the wrong flight can mean tracking the first leg of your journey instead of your arrival at PUJ.
Start with the segment that ends at PUJ
Open your itinerary and find the individual flight whose destination is PUJ. If you connect along the way, the first departure from your home airport is not the flight the transfer desk needs for the airport pickup.
An illustrative itinerary is home airport → connecting airport → PUJ. Copy the airline code and number for the final segment, its scheduled arrival time and its arrival date. Read the date at the destination, rather than assuming it is the day you leave home.
When the ticket says a different airline operates the flight
American Airlines distinguishes the marketing carrier, which sells the seat, from the operating carrier, which flies the aircraft. Its codeshare guidance explains where to find the operating airline beside the flight number in the booking details.
Keep both identities together: the operating airline and flight number, if shown, and the marketed flight number on your ticket. If you cannot find the operating number, send the ticketed flight number, operating airline, departure airport and PUJ arrival date in your enquiry. A short message that avoids confusion
Use this checklist in your enquiry: arrival airline and flight number; operating airline if different; PUJ arrival date and scheduled local arrival time; full hotel name; and one contact for the travelling party. You can put the extra flight details in the form notes.
